Been a while

So it's been a while, and a lot of things have gone on in my life. But hey that happens and I should at least share what I consider some of the highlights of my animation and work so far.

I'm having a lot of fun with animation and I'm excited to start really working on my final project! Hopefully I'll update here much more often as this final quarter goes by.

Guest in Animation Class: Anne Denmark

Last Tuesday was quite an interesting experience when Anne Denman turned out to be the guest speaker for the day. We have not had speaker yet, so it was certainly different.

Anne Denmark used to be a head of Bardel Entertainment, and helped get DHX get off the floor, which now produces work such as My Little Pony and Slugterra. She spoke quite a bit about the upcoming animation festival known as Okanagan International Festival of Animation, also known as Okifa. (See more details Here .) She seemed very excited about it as it will be hosted next year in October.

Anne Dennmark spoke a lot about making it in the industry and how to cope with some of the difficulties in the way of making your passion your work. This included how to write a resume, something that I always find helpful, as well as how to keep in good terms with people and how that can benefit someone. However, she also talked about negative things and that some things need to be taken out of the picture, like shallow friends or playing too much video games. Oddly enough I found a good chunk of what she spoke about similar to the things we talk about in Professional Development.

Overall, its always interesting to get tips from experts. One thing I particularily need to work on is staying positive, as she said it herself "It's all about perception." I personally need to work on my perception, so on top of everything else I feel I'm slowly understanding what it takes to make it; but I have a long way to go.
